Medical Me® History
Medical Me® was started by two sisters, Linda Virkler Graves and Linette Virkler Bush, from upstate NY in the Spring of 2002.
Linda and Linette are both Licensed Practical nurses. At the age of thirty Linda was stricken with Rheumatoid Arthritis. The disease process has continued to worsen over the years, which has involved continual Dr. visits, monthly blood tests, eye exams every six months, constant pharmacy visits for medicine renewals and changes, numerous x-rays, scans and specialist visits.
At the same time of Linda's diagnosis Linette's husband, Joe, was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, a rare muscle disease at the age of twenty-two. He was seen at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN following his diagnosis for consultation in which a thymectomy was done. Since that time Joe has been dependent on Prednisone therapy and has had eleven hospitalizations due to complications of his disease.
Linette and Joe have two sons, both of which were diagnosed with Legg 'Perthe's Disease, a rare disease of the hipbone, at the ages of seven years. One son has required two hip surgeries due to the severity of the disease. Because of these major medical issues involving both families and the necessity of answering many questions regarding these conditions, dates of test, surgeries, medications, etc. a need was apparent for a way to keep all of these records in a simple, easily accessible way.
Through many family brain storming sessions that involved two of Linda's daughters, a Dental Hygienist and a Registered Nurse, the Medical Me® “Informs You” three ring binder book came into being.

The Medical Me® book is designed to be an efficient and effective record keeping system for individuals of all ages, from infants to the elderly. They are made to be used not only by the individuals themselves, but also by anyone who may need access to their medical history. They are easy to use, affordable and a necessity for all families - especially those with medical issues. While this book was originally designed for our own personal use, it soon became apparent that others would benefit from it as well. It was after this realization that we decided to produce a book for the general public and hope that others will find it helpful.
